US Army chases 2 Chinese ships carrying WNI corps to Singapore waters, barely catches up with all

BATAM, KOMPAS.com – Lantamal IV Commander Tanjung Pinang First Admiral TNI Indarto Budiarto revealed how it had secured two Chinese-flagged vessels carrying 22 Indonesian citizens, in which one Indonesian citizen was killed and found in a freezer.

Indarto Budiarto said the case was revealed from information from families who claimed to often get reports from victims about acts of violence that occurred on the ship.

“Until finally we got information from the violence that caused one death to die,” Indarto said during a press conference at Lanal Pier Batam, Wednesday (07/08/2020).

Chased, barely caught

Indarto said from this information, the joint team then conducted a search and tracking.

Until finally known the existence of the two Chinese-flagged vessels in the waters of Batu Cula, Strait of Philip, Rear Padang, Batam, Riau Islands.

Finally the joint team pursued the two ships, Lu Huang Yuan Yu 117 and 118.

“This Chinese-flagged Lu Huang Yuan Yu 117 ship almost failed to be captured because it almost entered Singapore waters, but the alacrity of the joint team was finally defeated,” Indarto explained.

Found one citizen died in the freezer

“When evacuating the condition of Indonesian citizens who died and were kept in the freezer were still wearing clothes and covered,” Indarto said.

Indarto said, initially the joint team did not know which body was on which ship, but because the two ships were interrelated.

Being asked whether there were any signs of violence on the body, Indarto admitted that until now it had not been known because the body had just been unloaded and taken to the hospital room of Bhayangkara Hospital for a post mortem.

“From the family’s statement, the victim could not be contacted since June 29, 2020,” said Indarto.

Praktik human trafficking

Indarto further said that the two vessels known to be squid search vessels, indicated there had been human trafficking.

And henceforth the case will be explored by the police, in this case the Riau Islands Police.

“So later this case will be taken over by the Riau Islands Police,” concluded Indarto.
