The US State Department has approved the potential sale of long-range missiles and ammunition to Poland in a deal valued at up to $10 billion, the Pentagon said on Tuesday, according to Reuters.

The sale comes as Kiev has praised its US-made HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems) missile launchers for battlefield successes such as destroying Russian warehouses and command posts.
The package includes 18 HIMARS launchers, 45 297 km range missiles from the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) and more than 1,000 Guided Multiple Rocket Launch System (GMLRS).
The United States has rejected Ukraine’s requests for ATACMS missiles. Poland could not transfer any ATACMS to Ukraine without US approval.
