US Announces $425 Million Military Aid to Ukraine: USAI Financing Program and PDA Implementation

The Biden administration announced Friday that the United States would provide new military aid totaling $425 million (395 million euros) to Ukraine.

Part of this new aid is part of the USAI financing program, a fund that allows the US government to purchase weapons rather than providing equipment from its stockpiles.

The rest of the aid will be implemented under the Presidential Drawing Authority (PDA), which allows the President of the United States to draw on the stockpile in an emergency, without prior approval from Congress.

Among the equipment taken from American stocks are notably ammunition for Himars multiple rocket launchers, anti-tank weapons and Claymore antipersonnel mines, the Pentagon said.
