US and Kiev to Begin Talks on Long-Term Security Commitments

The US State Department has confirmed that talks will begin this week between Kiev and Washington on the so-called long-term security commitments declared at the NATO summit in Vilnius.

Details: According to Miller, the talks will be a continuation of the statement announced by the G7 on the sidelines of the latest NATO summit in Vilnius, where the countries “said that they would participate in negotiations with the government of Ukraine on multi-year commitments to Ukraine’s security.”

The representative of the American foreign policy department stressed that the United States considers long-term security obligations separately from the military assistance that Washington has provided and will provide to Kyiv.

On the eve of the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak said that Ukraine this week will begin negotiations with the United States under a bilateral agreement on the provision of “security guarantees”.

G7 countries at the NATO summit in Vilnius agreed on a framework document on “security guarantees” for Ukraine. The leaders did not agree on specific parameters of “security guarantees”, but on their framework, and specific bilateral agreements will be signed later.
