US and Europe Stock Prices Mostly Lower on Worries About China’s Economy and US Inflation Data

Stock prices in the US and Europe were mostly lower on Tuesday as investors awaited the release of key US inflation data and continued worries about China’s economy.

Wall Street’s Nasdaq Composite fell 1.0% as optimism about big technology companies waned, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average and Standard & Poor’s 500 also fell.

In Europe, the Paris and Frankfurt stock market indexes fell, while the London stock market index rose slightly.

“Apple” share price fell by more than 1.7%, and “Amazon” and “Alphabet” share prices also fell.

The release of US inflation data on Wednesday will give investors an important indication of whether the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates next week.

The FRS has raised interest rates 11 times since last March in an attempt to control rising inflation. In July, its key interest rate was raised to a 22-year high.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.1% to 34,645.99 on Tuesday, the Standard & Poor’s 500 fell 0.6% to 4,461.90, and the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.6%. 1.0% to 13,773.61 points.

London’s FTSE 100 rose 0.4% to 7,527.53 on Tuesday, Frankfurt’s DAX fell 0.5% to 15,715.53, and Paris’ CAC 40 fell 0.4% to 7,252. 88 points.

WTI crude oil rose 1.8% to $88.84 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday. “Brent” crude oil price on the London Stock Exchange rose by 1.6% to 92.06 dollars per barrel.

On the Dutch exchange “Title Transfer Facility” (TTF), the price of natural gas fell by 3.2% to 34.70 euros per megawatt hour on Tuesday.

The euro was down from $1.0752 to $1.0732 per euro on Tuesday, the British pound was down from $1.2511 to $1.2492 per pound, and the dollar against the Japanese yen was up from 146.56 to 147.15 yen per dollar. The euro rose against the British pound from 85.87 pence to 85.88 pence per euro.
