Washington: The United States and Britain imposed sanctions on Iran’s leader, Houthi leader and ships. The sanctions were imposed against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps deputy commander Mohammad Reza Falahzadeh and Houthi leader Ibrahim al-Nashiri. It also imposed sanctions on two vessels and entities registered in Hong Kong and the Marshall Islands.
The action is against Kohana Limited, registered in Hong Kong, and Iridescent Limited, registered in the Marshall Islands. The US has accused Kohana of shipping goods worth Rs 829 crore to China on behalf of Iran’s defense ministry.
Also, the vessel of Artura’s Hong Kong-based Cap Tees Shipping Limited has also been embargoed.
It is alleged that Iranian goods were sent to the Houthis and the network of Iranian financier Saeed al-Jamal.
The United States also alleged that the shipment was carried out using the name of the ship Artura Sanan 2. U.S. State Department spokesman Matt Miller said the U.S. and its allies are committed to curbing the financing of terrorism and will use all means to stop Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.
