US Ambassador to NATO Discusses NATO’s Response to Russian Military Threats

The US ambassador to NATO, Juliana Smith, commented in this way on the forecasts of experts published in the media about Russia’s possible military attack on Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

Smith emphasized that the NATO alliance is not waiting, moreover, the alliance is focused on the security needs of its eastern wing partners. Also, NATO has new plans, a new strategy and a new doctrine to ensure that the alliance can defend every inch of NATO territory.

The US ambassador to NATO also explained to LTV that much of what the alliance is currently doing is focused on the Russian threat, to ensure that NATO countries have everything they need to deter and defend against any form of Russian aggression.

Asked to comment on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent threats to Latvia, Smita said that the alliance takes these threats and such rhetoric seriously. “We are preparing and making dramatic changes to NATO, planning the structure and our doctrine to ensure we are ready.”
