US Ambassador Linna Tracy was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, where she was informed about these demands.
The names of these diplomats appeared in the media already at the end of August, when the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) reported that the former employee of the US consulate in Vladivostok, Robert Shonov, had been arrested.
According to the FSB, Shonov collected information about Russia’s war against Ukraine and related issues for United States diplomats.
In August, the FSB also reported that it planned to interrogate Silin and Bernstein, employees of the political department of the US Embassy in Moscow, who, according to the FSB’s version, gave Shonov assignments.
Now Silin and Bernstein are being expelled from Russia.
They must leave Russia within seven days.
