In order to strengthen the Orange Economy programs in Colombia and strengthen the protection of the environment in the national territory, President Iván Duque announced that a loan program for 2022 was defined for about $ 700 million dollars with the Bank of Development of Latin America (CAF).
This was reported by the president at the end of a meeting, which took place last Thursday, with the executive president of this multilateral credit organization, Sergio Díaz-Granados, who expressed his interest in supporting the development of more than 72 Areas of Desarrollo Naranja (ADN), in which cultural and creative industries are promoted.
“The first purpose of the loans, which commits $ 350 million dollars, is to continue strengthening the Orange Economy strategy, which has a component to support the reforms that the National Government has promoted., through strategies such as ReactivArte, the Colombia Crea Talent Corporation – CoCrea and the development of the Orange Law, as well as those related to cultural and creative entrepreneurship ”, indicated the Head of State.
He also indicated that CAF seeks to support the work carried out by the DNAs in the country, among which the Bronx, La Licorera, El Perpetuo Socorro, and Ciudad Musical stand out, through technical cooperation and resources in order to position its work as an area of greater scope, turning culture into a pillar of social development.
In the same way, the Ministry of Culture indicated that the approval of this loan is an important endorsement by the multilateral organization of this strategy of the national Government with which the social, economic and cultural growth of the country has been marked, which seeks to position creativity and innovation as the main axes of development.
“The credit operations that we are going to carry out next year are pioneering for Colombia, but also for CAF. It will allow us to learn with Colombia and for the Bank to expand that knowledge to the rest of the region.. We will have the first loan from the Orange Economy, a loan that will be aimed at supporting reforms, but also at strengthening infrastructure, ”said Díaz-Granados.
For her part, the Minister of Culture, Angélica Mayolo, recognized CAF’s interest in supporting the DNAs in the national territory, pointing out that these strategies, which have become areas of important relevance in the country’s regions, They already have the designs and would only require the resources for their execution.
Finally, the president highlighted the intention of the multilateral organization to open a headquarters in the country, which would become an opportunity to contribute to the urban and cultural development of Colombia, since its intention is to link creators, entrepreneurs, artists to the production, distribution of cultural and creative goods and services.
“This credit operation It will allow us to adopt long-term actions to continue strengthening the cultural and creative industries, consolidating the Orange Economy Policy and generating more opportunities for young people through culture.. We work so that Colombia will be the benchmark for the creative industries in Latin America ”, concluded the portfolio manager.
