Uruguay Wins FIFA U-20 World Youth Championship for the First Time in History

Buenos Aires, June 12, WAM, Uruguay won the FIFA U-20 World Youth Championship for the first time in its history, by defeating Italy 1-0, on Monday morning (UAE time) in the final match of the 23rd edition of the tournament. which was hosted by Argentina.
Uruguay won the match and the title with a very late goal. Luciano Rodriguez scored it in the 86th minute after the first half of the match ended in a goalless draw.
Luciano Rodriguez was sent off in the team’s match against Gambia in the round of 16 and missed the quarter-final and semi-final matches due to suspension, but he left a historic imprint with his return to the team in the final by scoring the winning goal and crowning Uruguay’s first title in the World Youth Championship.
Uruguay won the title after losing the final two previous times, in 1997 against Argentina and 2013 against France, while the Italian national team lost the opportunity to win the title in its first final match in the history of the tournament.
The Israeli national team achieved third place in the tournament by defeating South Korea 3-1 in the third-place match.
