(ANSA) – MONTEVIDEO, 27 OCTOBER – The candidate for the Uruguayan presidential elections, Yamandu Orsi, of the left-wing Frente Amplio party, will face Alvaro Delgado of the National party (PN, centre-right) in government in the second round, next 24 November. This was announced by the four screenings provided this evening by all the television channels of the South American country. Orsi, supported by former president José ‘Pepe’ Mujica, is credited with 43.2% of the votes in the first round, against 27% of the votes of his opponent, close to the outgoing president Luis Lacalle Pou, according to data from the institute Equipos Consultores. Scores of 44% and 27% respectively based on data from the Cifra opinion poll institute. The projections of the other two consultancy and polling companies present in Uruguay, Opción and Factum, are similar. Today there were also votes for two referendums, one on social security and the other on night searches by the police, and both were not approved. The projections of Equipos Consultores, Cifra, Opción and Factum for the composition of the future parliament of Uruguay diverge on the composition of the next Uruguayan Parliament and range from a majority in the Senate of the Frente Amplio, to a tie to be defined in a second round to a majority in the Chamber of Deputies for the centre-right coalition which brings together the PN, the Colorado party (centre) and three other smaller groups. Equipos Consultores, Cifra, Opción and Factum agree that only three parties will have representation in the Senate, namely the Frente Amplio, the Partido Nacional and the Colorado. (HANDLE).
