Uruguay Announces Risk-Based Flu Vaccination Campaign Starting April 18th

Uruguay’s health minister, Karina Rando, announced on Tuesday that the country will soon start the flu vaccination campaign and it will be carried out by risk segment.

The Ministry of Health in its official Twitter account “announced that the flu vaccination plan will be carried out by risk segment, will begin on April 18 and will have 700,000 vaccines”

The minister explained that flu vaccination will be carried out in a prioritized and stratified manner, starting with the highest risk groups.

The official argued that the campaign will begin on April 18 and will reach people over 65 years of age, those who are in long-stay establishments for the elderly, users of the shelters of the Ministry of Social Development (Mides), pregnant women and the puerperal women

As well as a second stage that will focus on children between six months and five years, and the third, on the general population, in this stage you can go directly to the vaccination without a prior schedule.

Likewise, the representative of the health portfolio reported that people over 50 years of age who wish to receive the booster dose against Covid-19, may do so together with the flu vaccine and that 700,000 vaccines are available for the 2023 flu campaign.
