Uruguay and Paraguay qualified for the quarter-finals of the Copa America on Thursday, beating Bolivia (2-0), Cuiaba, and Chile (2-0) respectively. These two results eliminate the Bolivians, last of group A, who cannot mathematically advance to the next round.

For Uruguay, the opening goal came on a cross from Giorgian De Arrascaeta deflected by Bolivian defender Jairo Quinteros then by his goalkeeper Carlos Lampe (40th). Edinson Cavani then doubled the lead, taking back a perfect cross from young Facundo Torres (79th). This is the 52nd goal of the “Matador” in selection.

For its part, Paraguay defeated Chile, which had already qualified, thanks to a header from Braian Samudio (33rd) and a penalty from Miguel Almiron (58th). Behind Argentina, who dominate Group A with seven points, are now Paraguay (six points), Chile (five) and Uruguay (four).
