Ursula von der Leyen offers € 1.5 billion in monthly aid to Ukraine

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, had a telephone conversation with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. The two discussed tightening sanctions in connection with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as well as Iran’s negative role in the aggression and its possible response, BNR reported.

They discussed the importance of ensuring the export of agricultural products from Ukraine so that it reaches other parts of the world. In this context, the two talked about increasing the capacity of the EU-Ukraine solidarity corridors, created for the export of agricultural and other goods from the country after the invasion began.

Von der Leyen informed Zelensky that in the next week he will offer financial support to the country up to 1.5 billion euros per monthso that the total amount of support for Ukraine for 2023 reaches 18 billion, as previously announced.
