Greuther Fürth wins a home game in the Bundesliga for the first time in the 24th attempt. The promoted team defeated Union Berlin, trained by Urs Fischer, 1-0.
It is a surprising sign of life from Greuther Fürth, who had not won any of his home games in his first Bundesliga season in 2012/2013. In the current season there were a draw and 13 defeats in the first 14 games, including a 1: 7 in Leverkusen a week before the historic victory.
The match winner of the Fürth in front of the empty stadium ranks was the Norwegian Havard Nielsen, who scored the winning goal in the 56th minute after a corner and an involuntary extension of the header from Unions Genki Haraguchi. Goalie Sascha Burchert prevented the Berliners from conceding goals with two good parades, who were betting on fresh players a few days after being out in the Conference League.
