If these functions are disturbed, it will cause difficulty urinating, or even no urine is formed
Tangerang (ANTARA) – Urology specialist at Sari Asih Hospital, Cipondoh, Tangerang City, dr. Aswin Usman Ariffin said kidney stones are a disease due to the imperfect filtration of salt and minerals in the kidneys and if ignored can lead to kidney failure.
“If these functions are disturbed, it will cause difficulty urinating, or even no urine is formed. So if you don’t get the right treatment and immediately it will result in kidney failure. As a consequence, the patient must undergo dialysis,” said Dr. Aswin Usman Ariffin, SpU in his statement in Tangerang, Banten, Friday.
He said kidney stone disease was caused by a number of genetic factors, an unhealthy lifestyle such as not drinking enough and eating a lot of foods such as jengkol, offal, squid, shrimp and others. There are also occupational factors, environmental factors and others.

Disorders that arise from kidney stones can result in damage to the kidneys that form a blockage in the ureter, which is the urinary tract which carries urine from the kidneys to the bladder to then be channeled outside. “As a result, the drainage flow is unstoppable and the kidneys become swollen,” he said.
He advised people experiencing the disease to immediately go to the nearest health facility before it gets worse.

The doctor will conduct further examination of the cause, whether the stone is in the kidney or in the urinary tract causing the blockage.
There is no drug that can destroy the material that has formed like the rock. Surgery is one of the options suggested by doctors in health facilities.
One that can be done is with Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is an act of crushing and removing large kidney stones (more than 2 cm).

This procedure is a procedure that does not require a large incision, only a hole about the size of an adult’s thumb is made. So that the bleeding is minimal (minimally invasive) and after the procedure, the patient can immediately return to normal activities without disturbing pain.
“This surgery uses an instrument called a nephroscope (binoculars) that is inserted through a small incision into the kidney to reach the stone and crush it so that the stone fragment can be removed,” he said.

In this action, the anesthesiologist also conducts close monitoring of the patient to ensure that the patient does not feel pain during and after surgery.
