Prostate cancer can also spread to nearby organs, such as the bladder, bones or other organs. Prostate cancer that spreads to the bones can cause pain and fractures.

Urology experts, including in Indonesia, are currently trying to detect prostate cancer early. Detection can be done in men starting at the age of 50 years and can be started at the age of 40 years if there is a family history of prostate cancer.
The examination that will be carried out by the doctor includes questions and answers about the presence or absence of complaints, physical examination, and physical examination
supporting investigations, rectal or digital rectal examinations and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) examinations from blood samples that can be performed concurrently with a medical check-up.
Other supporting examinations, such as urine examination, renal function examination, and ultrasonography (USG) may be performed according to indications.
The results of the examination will determine the next step for the patient whether to need regular follow-up examinations, further examinations to confirm the diagnosis or start treatment for prostate cancer.
“After doing a diagnosis on the patient, patients diagnosed with prostate cancer must undergo several therapies depending on what stage the cancer is diagnosed at,” said Agus.

In low-stage prostate cancer can be done close monitoring, surgery and radiotherapy. For cases of localized advanced prostate cancer, radiotherapy will be performed on the patient. Meanwhile, in cases of prostate cancer that has spread, hormonal therapy and chemotherapy are also carried out.

This figure will decrease to 50 percent if found at an advanced stage. In Indonesia, currently there are quite a number of new cases of prostate cancer found in advanced stages and most of them come or are diagnosed at the age of 60-79 years.
