Uriel Canjura treats knee injury at the INDES Applied Sciences Clinic – – 2024-02-23 04:45:00

Badminton player Uriel Canjura, an athlete from the Effort and Glory Program, yesterday visited the Applied Sciences Clinic of the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES) to receive recovery therapy due to an injury to his right knee.

Canjura suffers from a patellar injury that he suffered a few weeks ago in training, so he was present at the clinic minutes after returning to the country after his participation in the Badminton Pan Am M&F Cup 2024, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The player will also undergo an MRI to rule out possible tendonitis or another type of injury, in the meantime he will continue with physical therapies, leaving training aside for a few days.

“I had a consultation with the doctor to give me a diagnosis about the discomfort that I have been feeling for a few weeks and he told me that it is a patellar injury, so I have to rest and receive physical therapy, waiting for them to do the MRI.” “Canjura explained.

Regarding the attention he is receiving from the INDES medical staff, the athlete thanked them for the support they are giving him during this time in which he will not have competition and can recover.

“I am happy for the assistance that INDES has given us, they have attended to me quickly, so I hope to be on the courts soon. “I thank President Yamil Bukele for the attention they give us here, for putting us as a priority,” said the badminton player.

The athlete, originally from Suchitoto, indicated that the effort he made by participating in the event in Brazil keeps alive the hope of qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

“It was a priority to go to Brazil for the points to qualify for Paris 2024. I achieved the goal and now I only have to recover for the next competitions in Switzerland and Spain, events organized by the World Federation and the Pan American Games, which is the last competition that will give points. for the Olympics, so the hope is still alive,” said Canjura.

Meanwhile, Bryan Fernández, head of the physiotherapy area, stated that with Canjura they have been treating the injury remotely because he has been in competition and that with his arrival in the country the process will continue directly.

“We have been working remotely with Uriel due to an injury that he has suffered in recent weeks, imaging studies are going to be done to rule out any serious injury. He has continued to play and that is why now we are going to treat him as he deserves,” said Fernández.

According to Bryan, the diagnosis is possible tendinitis, so the MRI will allow them to corroborate the diagnosis.

“We want to rule out everything from the slightest such as tendinopathy to a tear or damage to the patellar tendon. This week is decisive for the athlete. With the first therapy that was given to him, we lowered his muscle load with pressotherapy, sports massage, and fascia massage,” said Fernández.
