Mercedes is working intensively on the electrification of models

To achieve the intended goals, Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that it is working on three new all-electric platforms. Their debut is scheduled for 2025.

Consequently, the car manufacturer only plans to bring new, all-electric vehicles to the market from then on. Thus, it will gradually phase out cars powered by internal combustion engines.

Mercedes electrification plan assumes a switch to all-electric drive at the end of the decade, if market conditions allow it. The manufacturer will install, in cooperation with partners, battery cells with a capacity of over 200 gigawatt hours. Thus, it plans to create eight Gigafactory and increase partnerships for the development and production of battery cells in Europe.

In addition, Mercedes wants to increase the efficiency of electric powertrains through vertical integration and take over YASA, which has specialists in the field of ultra-efficient axle motors.

The German manufacturer wants to introduce a “plug and charge” procedure, which will allow for trouble-free charging without additional steps required for authentication and payment. The Mercedes me Charge service will have over 530,000 AC and DC charging points worldwide.
