The first day of Christmas, falling this year on Saturday, gave those working in December fewer working days – for Saturday, an additional day off is due. The calendar for 2022 is even more favorable in this respect; there will be one more day off, and the opportunity to use it comes in January. What about the long weekends next year?

In December, full-time working hours are 22 days or 176 hours. The employee is then entitled to one additional day off for pick-up for Saturday Christmas. Using it just after Christmas or before New Year’s Eve will extend the rest.

One more day off in 2022. How much will Poles work next year?

In 2022, the first similar occasion will be on January 3 or 7. Next year, we will have a total of four long weekends, enumerate experts from inFakt.

The number of working days is regulated by the Labor Code. It depends, inter alia, on how many holidays do not fall on Sunday.
There will be nine such cases in 2022:

  • • January 1, 2022 – New Year – Saturday
  • • January 6, 2022 – Epiphany – Thursday
  • • April 18, 2022 – the second day of Easter – Monday
  • • 3 May 2022 – May 3rd National Day – Tuesday
  • • June 16, 2022 – Corpus Christi day – Thursday
  • • August 15, 2022 – Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Monday
  • • November 1, 2022 – All Saints – Tuesday
  • • November 11, 2022 – National Independence Day – Friday
  • • December 26, 2022 – the second day of Christmas – Monday.

The number of working days next year will therefore amount to 251, which is one less than this year. Already on January 3 or 7 there will be an opportunity to extend the weekend, because the New Year falls on Saturday. In this situation, the employer is obliged to grant another day off to employees who work from Monday to Friday (art. 130 paragraph 2 of the Labor Code). It must be used in the same billing period, i.e. in most cases in the same month.

Next year Working time full time job will total 2008 hours. The busiest month will be March – 23 working days or 184 hours. In turn, most days off (12) will be in January. The difference to March will be as much as 32 hours.

For part-time employees, the number of working hours is calculated in proportion to the scope of work in the contract. – For example, if someone is employed part-time, the minimum working time in February 2022 will be 80 hours, i.e. half of the 160 hours. However, it is possible to extend the working time of part-time employees. Additional working hours may not exceed the full-time hourly basis. This means that both a person employed ½ and ¾ full time in February 2022 will not be able to work more than 160 hours. For overtime hours, no higher rates, such as overtime, are payable, unless the conditions of Art. 151 of the Labor Code.
