Books – Tarek Samir:

On Thursday, the prosecutor, councilor Hamada Al-Sawy, ordered an investigation into the complaint of detainee Alaa Abdel-Fattah.

On November 1st, the Prosecutor’s Office received a complaint from the lawyers of the detainee, Alaa Abdel-Fattah, which included a request to hospitalize him to monitor his health conditions, due to his hunger and alcohol strike. In order to safeguard his safety and his life, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has instructed the Community Protection Sector of the Ministry of the Interior to carry out a medical examination on the detainee, in implementation of the rules governing reform and rehabilitation centres.

The prosecutor received a letter from the sector insisting that the detainee refuse to be accompanied to the medical center, or to sign a medical certificate on him. The prosecutor ordered one of the chief prosecutors to go to his technical office to interrogate the detainee and investigate his complaint.

When the prosecutor moved to question him about his complaint, he decided that after his transfer to the Wadi Al-Natrun Correctional and Rehabilitation Center (2), which is currently under development, he felt psychological comfort there. Getting the sun into the room in which he was laid, and cleaning it, and treating him decently, and allowing him to get into books and exercise, but nevertheless he partially struck from his food by a system which he called “the system of limited daily calories.” Newspapers and newspapers, wearing a wrist watch, and allowing him to visit his family outside the glass prison visiting rooms are all contrary to what is in practice the regulations of rehabilitation centres. .

The inmate added his consent to sign a medical form on him during the investigation and to provide him with proper treatment at the medical center of the reformatory stating that he was taking certain vitamins and general tonics and that he was not suffering from any organic diseases or that he had taken other drugs.

The Public Prosecution examined his confinement and found that he had a large room in which three inmates shared it, with attached private toilets, and two mattresses for the inmate, one of which was filled with a large number of books and magazines in Several medications were found with him, including vitamins, dietary supplements, and a saline solution for dehydration. .

The prosecutor also examined the detainee’s visit log, and showed the regularity of his family’s visits to him in regular and exceptional visits on a regular basis, the latest being three visits last October and one visit on November 7th. And he was not suffering from any disease and was not taking any therapeutic drugs other than the vitamins and nutritional supplements found with him.

The Public Prosecutor arranged for the establishment of a specialized medical commission to sign the medical examination against him, which concluded in its report – after having carried out the analyzes and examinations necessary for the prisoner – that he had decided to consume sufficient calories daily to stay healthy, and that tests and tests have revealed that her vital signs – which are blood pressure, pulse, oxygen, blood sugar, temperature – are all within normal limits and her EKG is in her normal range; This indicates that his hunger and alcohol strikes are questionable.

The report concluded that his health condition is good and does not require his transfer to the medical center, with the recommendation of a periodic medical check-up.
