The US Embassy in Beirut issued a statement recommending that its citizens leave Lebanon immediately, following the development of recent events in Gaza and on the southern Lebanese border, according to Russia Today.
The US Embassy published a statement in which it said: “The State Department recommends that American citizens in Lebanon leave immediately, while commercial flights remain available, due to the unpredictable security situation. Please review the flight options available at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport.”
The statement added: “You must have an action plan for crisis situations that do not depend on the assistance of the American government. The best time to leave a country is before the crisis if possible, and it is rare for the United States to evacuate civilians with the help of the military from a foreign country. It is not “There is no guarantee that the US government will evacuate American citizens and their family members in the event of a crisis.”
The statement continued: “In the event that an evacuation occurs with American military assistance, our focus will be on assisting American citizens. The United States government is generally unable to provide transportation within the country during crises. This includes transportation to departure points. You will not be able to take your pets with you.” In any evacuation operation carried out with American military assistance from Lebanon.”
