The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population confirmed, on its official Facebook page, that antibiotics do not treat viruses, but rather bacterial infections.
The Ministry of Health has warned citizens about the misuse and overuse of antibiotics during the Coronavirus pandemic. Because it may exacerbate the antibiotic resistance problem.
Yesterday, Wednesday, the Ministry of Health and Population announced that 133 recoverers of the Corona virus had been discharged from hospitals, after receiving the necessary medical care and complete their recovery according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization, bringing the total of those recovering from the virus to 101,421 cases until today.
Dr. Khaled Mujahid, advisor to the Minister of Health and Population for Media Affairs and the official spokesperson for the ministry, stated that 329 new cases that proved positive for laboratory analyzes of the virus were recorded, as part of the necessary surveillance, investigation and examination procedures that the ministry conducts according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization, pointing to the death of 14 new cases.
Mujahid said that according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization issued on May 27, 2020, the disappearance of symptoms for 10 days after infection is an indication of the patient’s recovery from the Corona virus.
“Mujahid” stated that the total number that was registered in Egypt with the new Corona virus until Wednesday, is 111613 cases, including 101,421 cases that have been cured, and 6,495 deaths.
