An urgent council under Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov has tried to find out how Violeta Laurer was appointed to the European Investment Bank, “24 Chasa” has learned.
As it became clear today, the wife of the MP from “We continue the change” Daniel Laurer was appointed by the Minister of Finance Asen Vassilev as the representative of Bulgaria on the board of the European Investment Bank.
A little while ago, the Deputy Prime Minister Maria Gabriel, the co-chairmen of PP-DB Kiril Petkov, Hristo Ivanov, Vladislav Panev and Atanas Atanasov were at a meeting in Prime Minister Denkov’s office. On behalf of GERB, Denitsa Sacheva, Desislava Atanasova and Tomislav Donchev participated.
The format should have specified the mechanisms for the appointments of deputy ministers and regional governors, as well as regulators. During the meeting, however, it became clear that Vassilev had appointed Violeta Laurer to the EIB. Even Kiril Petkov and Nikolay Denkov were surprised by the news.
“24 Chasa” sought a comment from the Council of Ministers on the emergency appointment meeting, but one has not yet been provided by the government information service.
An urgent check showed that Finance Minister Asen Vassilev had himself agreed on the appointment with the other ministers. Having given 60 minutes to respond to his request. After receiving the approvals, he signed the appointment of Violeta Laurer.
