Urgent application rejected: Bicycle demo in Frankfurt not on the A5: Current news from Frankfurt & Hesse

Kassel. In Kassel, the police broke up a traffic blockade by the “Last Generation” group. About 200 people gathered at an intersection in the city center, holding up traffic in all four directions, a police spokesman said. The group stated in a statement that the action was to protest “against the subsidization of Kassel-Calden Airport with millions of taxpayers’ money.”

According to the police spokesman, the meeting was not registered. Those responsible for the group did not agree to block only part of the intersection so that traffic could continue to flow. There was also no response to the subsequent request to leave the place. The police then carried away a large part of the 200 people; there was no resistance.

The police issued expulsions, established identities and initiated administrative offense proceedings. The intersection was reopened in the afternoon. The Last Generation had announced that there would be so-called “disobedient assemblies” every Wednesday and Saturday. (dpa)
