“Donate blood, save lives” is a slogan of the Red Cross blood donation service. And it’s more relevant than ever. Because the situation seems serious. “High temperatures, public holidays, the upcoming holidays and the expected enormous volume of travel made increased commitment by donors irreplaceable throughout the summer,” says a statement from the BRK. If you want to donate blood, maybe for the first time, you should do so now. And according to the BRK, even a covid infection that has gone through is no reason not to donate. “Donors can be allowed to donate again just two weeks after recovery.” And: When donating blood, only medical mouth and nose protection has to be worn, informs Markus Zimmermann, blood donation officer at the BRK Kreisverband Weiden-Neustadt/WN.
