The World Health Organization revealed that the mutated strain of Coronavirus that appeared in Britain has been detected so far in at least 60 countries.
As for the new strain that appeared in South Africa, the organization indicated, in a statement today, Wednesday, that it was monitored in 23 countries and regions, stressing that it is more contagious than the strain that appeared in Britain.
She stated that she is monitoring the spread of the other two species that appeared in Brazil, and one of them was transmitted to Japan with people from Brazil.
The organization noted that there is insufficient information to know the extent of the seriousness of the virus when it mutates to these new forms, noting that the strain that appeared in Britain is capable of infecting between 50 to 70% of the original virus, and it was monitored in six regions of the World Health Organization And completed: “And the mutated virus found in South Africa was detected in four regions of the organization.”
The statement added that these two strains are not more dangerous, but they cause an increase in pressure on the health system in the countries of the world due to the speed of infection with them.
It is worth noting that the Coronavirus has infected more than 96 million people around the world, and killed more than two million others, at a time when the world is trying to curb the deadly virus by accelerating the distribution of vaccines against it.
The chief analyst at the American National Interest Center, Harry Kazianis, had warned of the possibility of a new epidemic coming also from China, if the world did not take preventive and safety measures to ensure that the Covid-19 scenario would not be repeated.
