Urbanstep Releases New Song “Depressure” to Raise Awareness of Mental Health and Well-Being

Internationally acclaimed Latvian DJ and producer Urbanstep (Juris Graubergers) has released a new song “Depressure”, which he created to draw the attention of the wider public to the topic of mental health and its connection with overall body well-being.

The name of the new song “Depressure” is a combination of two English words “depression” and “pressure”, meaning depression and pressure.

“This song was born in a special mood – at a time when the main emotion I was feeling was disappointment, which threatened to turn into depression,” explains Urbanstep. “The song is characterized by deep bass, dark “memphis rap” vocals and dramatic melodies. The piece was created at a time when I came to the realization that I wanted to raise the topic of mental health publicly. The media has been talking about mental health on a daily basis for years… After many years of struggling with psychological trauma and taking care of my well-being, I have come to the conclusion that everything is connected. Pain can be not only emotional, but often also physical – if your leg hurts, it can be difficult to be in a good mood, it can also be physically difficult for you if a tragedy has happened in the family. Although many may disagree, we are first and foremost physical beings.”

Urbanstep is a DJ and producer from Riga, whose songs have been ranked at the top of several prestigious electronic music genre charts. The producer has collaborated with the “Grammy” nominated singer Tyte Writer and performed with such globally recognized DJs as Pendulum, Dieselboy, Zardonic, Maduk, NCT, Extra Terra, etc. The record company “Urban Stars Records” created by Urbanstep has become a home for more than 50 artists.

It should be noted that Urbanstep’s work is not limited to the creation of electronic music alone – the producer has also put his hand in the creation of rock music, metal, rap and pop music. Urbanstep was invited to join the team of organizers of the Latvian national selection of the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, while in 2022 his album “Stages” was nominated for the “Golden Microphone” award in the nomination “Best Dance or Electronic Music Album”.
