On first contact, the low weight is positive: At just 234 grams, the over-ear Urbanista New York is really comfortable to wear, even over long listening sessions.
The ear cushions are covered with synthetic leather and provide sufficiently soft padding; the headband, on the other hand, is only very lightly padded, which was not a noticeable disadvantage due to the low weight.
Thanks to the folding mechanism, the receiver can be stowed away easily in the supplied fabric bag. However, this bag hardly offers any protection against mechanical pressure.
The operation works via mechanical buttons that are distributed on both capsules. On the left capsule, you switch on the receiver using the slide switch, and activate and deactivate noise canceling and Bluetooth pairing with another button.
Three buttons on the right capsule are used to control the source and volume. Great: The headphones offer an additional analog input via mini jack. This means that the New York can also be used wired.
