- “Hot Counter” turns Domgasse into an adventure space
After the first step to redesign and redesign Linzer Domgasse in spring 2023, this project is now entering its next phase. As a first step, Domgasse will be given a “winter use”. This takes place at a so-called hot counter, which is set up by FIFTITU% and Studio Clemens Bauder. The hot bar will be used every two weeks between January and March 2024 (between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.).
“More space and quality of stay for the people of Linz in Domgasse – these goals should be achieved with the transformation of Domgasse. Street space, which previously served almost exclusively for private motorized traffic, is now being given back to people as a living and leisure space. The new and current cultural component with activities from FIFTITU% contributes to making Domgasse even more of a leisure meeting place. In this way, the meeting zone becomes an experience space,” emphasize Mayor Klaus Luger, mobility officer, Deputy Mayor Mag. Martin Hajart and City Councilor for Culture Doris Lang-Mayrhofer. You are invited to warm up together at this cultural outdoor event.
From street space to living space
As part of a first stage, a meeting area was set up in Domgasse to create a better quality of life for people. Parking spaces were reduced and the street space was redesigned. Benches were set up, greenery was added and quiet areas were created. There were also areas for bar gardens as meeting points for social gatherings and cultural enjoyment at events. The basis for this was a concept created by the Linz mobility department in cooperation with local residents and the art university. Mag.arch. Clemens Bauder controls the participatory process necessary for the redesign of Domgasse.
The transformation of Domgasse is designed to take place in several stages, which will be developed and implemented in contact with the residents. Further interventions and installations are planned in the Domgasse street area.
Invitation to the innovation cocktail at the street bar
The Heiße Theke, which premiered on January 17th in front of the Hemingway’s and Zaffran restaurants, is more than just an event – it sees itself as a pulsating platform that is activated by various hosts and initiatives from the Domgasse neighborhood.
It offers a covered space for creativity and interaction. During activation, the side surfaces of the modular wooden construction fold up to provide weather protection.
On a total of seven evenings, the Heiße Theke is transformed into a lively meeting place that not only offers warming drinks, but also offers space for artistic performances, discussion formats, live music and interactivity.
So let’s go – to have fun and make Domgasse a lively center of urban life, a place that promotes inspiration and social cohesion and shows that urban life in Linz has much more to offer than just parking spaces Cars.
“The hot bar responds to the cold season in the city as a prototypic social infrastructure. The project temporarily creates an open place for networking, encounters and communication. After the first warm-up, “Street Dating” is on the agenda at the upcoming Hot Bar. Come along and join us on the seven evenings,” warmly welcomes Onna Valarie Serbest from the FIFTITU% association and Clemens Bauder from Studio Clemens Bauder.
SAVE THE DATE: The other dates for the Hot Counter until March are January 31st, February 14th, February 28th, March 6th, March 13th and March 27th, 2024, each from 5 p.m.
