More than 80 urban artists, along with workshop leaders and creators for the complementary agenda, participate in an activity in commemoration of the memory of Diego Felipe Becerra, a young graffiti artist murdered in 2011.
Through the development of expressions of urban art, this event highlights the value of respect for life, in addition to recognizing the importance of public space for the well-being of citizens. and its relationship with the sense of belonging to a territory.
He Urban Art Day seeks to exalt the positive actions that take place in Bogotá, understanding Urban art as a movement that transcends aesthetic disciplines and aims at understanding and interacting with the city through collective mobilization.
After a long history of institutional and community synergy, the “Diego Felipe Becerra Lizarazo Urban Art Day Celebration Scholarship”, whose objective is to promote the creation of artistic interventions in public spaces and to give space to manifestations such as urban art, graffiti, dance, performance, mapping, installation and breakdancing, among others.

Among the contributions of these artistic fields are the improvement of the city’s surroundings, the promotion of meetings with other actors in the public space, inviting artists and citizens to reflect on the specific dynamics that occur in the territory.
The winning projects of this grant are being implemented andin the towns of Suba, Ciudad Bolivar, Fontibon, Martires, Rafael Uribe Uribe and Santa Fe.
About the event
This August 31st, artists from the nineteen graffiti tables will meet (19 local tables and a Women’s Graffiti table), together with the community of the territory, to commemorate the memory of Diego Felipe Becerra.
The event, which will take place in the town of Ciudad Bolívar – El Rincón de la Estancia will feature an artistic program with music, breakdance, tag battles and live urban art creation, among other activities.
