Nearly six months after launch, the James Webb Space Telescope is sending the first images from space toward Earth. At public observatory Urania in Hove, visitors can be one of the first to view this Tuesday.

The space telescope was launched on December 25, 2021. Thirty years of designing preceded this launch. But all that waiting has paid off, because the first scientific recordings will be presented on Tuesday.

The first photo may be released by American Joe Biden on Monday evening, but for other images everyone is welcome at Urania in Hove on Tuesday from 3.30 pm. The local staff will provide more information about the telescope and there will be a presentation of the models of the James Webb Space Telescope and the Hubble Space Telescope. There will also be a livestream from the European Space Agency ESA and from NASA to show the images from the telescope.

The telescope must, among other things, collect light from stars that formed shortly after the Big Bang, observe how new galaxies are formed and how old galaxies have evolved.
