The early voting center, The Armory, in Washington Heights registered long lines.
Many waited up to an hour to vote.
Among them was Rafael Ceballos: “The time I have to have to vote, I have it, no problem.”
This is the first presidential election in which New Yorkers can cast their votes early.
The process began on Saturday, October 24 and will end on November 1.
But in the voting center, there were problems, because as closing time approached, many of the voters did not know if they would have time to enter to vote.
Mayor de Blasio has criticized the Electoral Board that handles the elections and early voting.
Long lines put people off, he said.
He is asking that the voting machines be increased and that the voting hours be extended from 7 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon, on some days.
However, in other voting centers the situation is calmer.
At Eleonor Roosevelt School at 182nd Street and Audubon Avenue it took many minutes to get in and out.
One of the voters commented: “With a very good attention they treated me and, really, I am very happy”
The Electoral Board has said that people are online before closing will be able to enter to vote.
