The adventurers of “Koh-Lanta: The Cursed Tribe” face reunification this Tuesday, October 1.

ENTERTAINMENT- Yellow, red, sometimes blue, or green… the colors of the bandanas in Koh-Lanta are a bit sacred, like fire or grains of rice. The adventurers of Koh-Lanta: The Cursed Tribe will constitute the white tribe after reunification and the formidable sequence of ambassadors orchestrated by Denis Brogniart in the program broadcast this Tuesday, October 1 on TF1. The candidates are certain that arriving in the majority at reunification is the guarantee of winning, or almost. We checked if it was true.

Currently in the Philippines, the team led by Ugo, the reds renamed the Pitogo, are more numerous than the yellows led by Frédéric, the Sabitang. Will the future winner of Koh-Lanta: The Cursed Tribe necessarily belongs to the Pitogo? The probabilities are indeed higher. We explain to you why it is more likely that it will be a red who wins the check for 100,000 euros.

Of the 23 “normal” seasons of Koh-Lanta broadcast, that is to say with ordinary and anonymous candidates, only seven were won by adventurers from tribes not in the majority at reunification, this was notably the case from the previous season, Koh-Lanta: The Immunity Hunters, won by Léa, yellow, who arrived inferior at reunification. This corresponds to 30% of winners. Consequently, 70% of the winners come from teams that were surplus to reunification. This seems logical when we know that it is ultimately the adventurers present at the reunification who vote to decide between the finalists.

Who are the seven “exceptional” Koh-Lanta candidates?

The candidates who are exceptions to this rule and who have defied the odds are therefore seven in number. There was Philippe in 2010, Benoît in 2016, Frédéric in 2017, Maud in 2019, Maxine in 2021, Bastien in 2022 (who shared his victory with François who belonged to the majority team) and Léa in April 2024. In certain cases, these are adventurers who changed color during the game, eliminated then recalled after abandoning for example. We kept their “last” color and not the initial to produce these statistics.

In 23 years of Koh-Lantathe prize for the most unpredictable victory perhaps goes to Maud. In the 20th season of Koh-Lanta: The War of the Chefs broadcast in 2019, three teams competed against each other. Maud was red, a tribe which was only represented by three adventurers out of 15 at the time of reunification. The 50-year-old saleswoman held out for more than 10 days with the help of her partner Cyril, before being chosen over Cindy during the final jury.

The statistics are different, however, if we look at the “special” or “All Stars” seasons. So it’s 50/50. Of the six seasons, half were won by adventurers from minority tribes: Laurent in 2014, Clémence in 2018 for his 2nd victory, and Naoil in 2020 during the season which mixed old and new adventurers.

The winner of Koh-Lanta: The Cursed Tribe will he be one of those who defy the statistics? Answer in a few weeks…
