Upgrading a slightly older computer, need tips.

Come on!
Is it so that my current computer probably starts singing on the last verse as the computer can barely cope with the latest games. I think an upgrade is in order.

What I currently have is:

i5 8600k
Asus Geforce 1070 8GB
NZXT h440W
Asus Prime Z370-A
Corsair 16GB 3000mhz
Colermaster 212evo

It’s been a while since I’ve been in the game, but I’ve been reading a bit about newer generations.
Can imagine running on the previous generation, doesn’t have to be the latest.
Both AMD and Intel work well.

Have managed to get hold of a pair of Corsair 3400mhz RAM so this does not need to be added.
Also have access to a Noctua NH-u12a for the processor.

Thinking that I might be able to bring home a used 3070 or 3060, but also goes well with a new graphics card.
The screen I have right now is a 1440P 144hz screen.

So what I wonder about the most is: Which processor and motherboard should you run on? Sorting this out feels like a jungle.
Have looked a bit at the i5 12600k or the Ryzen 5 series.

Beyond that: What power should one have on the PSU?

Have a budget of maybe 11k but can stretch a bit further if it’s really affordable.

I imagine that it should cope with games like Returnal, Diablo 4, Warzone, God of War, Hogwartz Legacy for example.

Thank you all in advance if you help out an old gamer!
