Upfronts 2023: the canceled and ended TV series from ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and The CW, including The Blacklist, New Amsterdam, and Riverdale on Netflix Germany

The US series The Blacklist, New Amsterdam and Riverdale, which are streamed on Netflix in Germany, are very popular. Unfortunately, there is bad news: you are among the 23 series that have been canceled or ended and are not returning for new seasons. There are also 5 Disney+ series.

At the annual Upfronts event, the 5 major US networks ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and The CW decide the fate of dozens of series and present the program for the coming season. One Overview of all discontinued and ended series we have put together for you here.

ABC is ending 5 series – 3 of which are streaming on Disney+

Big Sky

In Germany, 3 ABC series can be seen on Disney+. Fortunately, the drama A Million Little Things received a final series finale after 5 seasons. Unfortunately, this does not apply to the two series Alaska Daily and Big Sky. The cancellations only became known after the release of the last episodes.

Comedy fans also have to say goodbye to the long-lived series The Goldbergs after 10 seasons. In this country, the final episodes are currently running on Sky and can be streamed via WOW. The cancellation of the novelty The Company You Keep with This is Us star Milo Ventimiglia is not quite as hard. This has not yet been published in Germany.

The NCIS universe is getting smaller: CBS has sold 3 series

True Lies

Last year, CBS commissioned a total of 4 new series, 2 of which were canceled immediately. While a German release of the police series East New York is still pending, the Action series True Lies recently launched on Disney+. This is a series reboot of the film of the same name starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The cancellation of NCIS: Los Angeles is a little more painful. After the spin-off Navy CIS: New Orleans said goodbye two years ago, NCIS: Los Angeles will be the second series in the crime franchise to end – after 14 years and over 320 episodes.

These 5 series were discontinued by Fox – another Disney + is included

Atlanta Medical

Unfortunately, fans of the hospital series Atlanta Medical and The Resident have no real farewell receive. The cancellation was announced a few months after the final episodes aired. In this country you can stream all 6 seasons on Disney +.

The Blacklist and New Amsterdam: NBC ends 2 Netflix hits

New Amsterdam

After 10 seasons and over 200 episodes the series hit The Blacklist will come to an end next July. In Germany, the series finale is expected to appear on Netflix in August or September. You can already stream The Blacklist season 10 in German.

The hospital series New Amsterdam, on the other hand, ended in January 2023 after 5 seasons. In Germany, the series streams completely on RTL+. But also on Netflix, where 2 seasons can currently be seen, New Amsterdam could find numerous fans. Season 3 starts there on June 1, 2023.

Riverdale, The Flash & More: These The CW series have been canceled or ended

The Flash

Because of a radical realignment of the series program The CW boasts the most series cancellations this year. This is particularly unfortunate for Supernatural fans. The first spin-off of the fantasy horror series was scrapped straight away. And that before it was even seen in Germany.

With the series finale of The Flash on May 24, 2023 the Arrowverse finally said goodbye after 11 years. An era also ends with the conclusion of the Netflix hit Riverdale. It was the last major youth series of what was once the best TV station for young viewers. In the future, this will increasingly focus on cheaply produced or purchased series and shows that are intended to appeal to a more adult audience.

Podcast: Why The Blacklist is so popular – and the ending will still disappoint

The Blacklist with James Spader is a phenomenon. Amidst the prestige series Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, the crime series kicks off on September 23, 2013 with a compelling prelude. That was the beginning of an impressive success story.
