Regarding the current status of the wastewater system, Mayor Gerald Reiter informed the council members at the last municipal council meeting that the work to be carried out by the Wagner construction company has been completed. There is still some work to be done on the area. The built-in rake, which catches coarse materials after the inlet, is covered with a wooden structure.
A financial hurdle is currently the purchase of the pumping stations from Charlottenthal, Schwarzach and Waldhäuser. The pipes necessary from these districts have been installed, but the wastewater cannot be transported to Stadlern due to the lack of technology. “The project is currently on hold,” said the mayor, referring to the municipality’s open budget, for which the supervisory authority has not yet made a decision. Without an approved budget, no tender or request for offers can take place for the required technology, emphasized Gerald Reiter and VG managing directors Matthias Jeitner agreed.
The budget consultation in May of this year showed that the administrative budget – i.e. the ongoing business – can only be balanced with a withdrawal of 63,000 euros from the asset budget. Under normal conditions, money remains from the administrative budget that can be used as an “injection” in the asset budget for investments. This is not in Stadlern’s budget this year. In such a situation, the budget will not be approved by the supervisory authority if loans are also to be taken out for investments.
However, borrowing is essential to finance the wastewater system and its interconnection and water pipes. Although the funding notice has already been received, the amounts promised therein can only be recognized in the cash register once it has been received, probably in 2025. Ultimately, the 2023 budget drawn up in May was refused official approval. A necessary revision of the figures followed in August.
In the meantime, the administration has been able to incorporate positive changes. The trade tax rate increased from 100,000 euros to 280,000 euros, and the increase in water and sewer fees decided in the spring was taken into account in the budget consultation in August. Among other things, property and trade taxes were adjusted to the national average. “We are now in the middle, our hands are tied,” said the mayor, referring to the technology required for commissioning on the one hand and to the wait for the district office to make a decision on the budget on the other.
The next item on the agenda unanimously set the refreshment allowance for the helpers in the district and state elections at 50 euros. The mayor invites the clubs to arrange an appointment on Sunday, October 29th at 10:30 a.m. in the fire department’s equipment building. The wooden scaffolding at the foot of the Reichenstein is expected to be dismantled on Saturday, October 7th. Text and image contributions for the “Border Whisperer” brochure can be submitted to the administrative community.
Local councilor Reinhard Lampl sees the need to take measures against speed offenders within the town. This problem was also confirmed by listeners. The mayor and Matthias Jeitner assured that they would contact the police about possible checks.
