An approach linked to the heart of the city

The territorial revitalization operation which targets the city center recommends including more green spaces and favoring soft modes of transport. A philosophy which will find echo in front of the river, in particular thanks to the passage of the electric bus with high level of service. Initially, the dwellings imagined to the north and south of the station were to be served by a road axis. It is now abandoned in favor of a pedestrian and cycle path. The guiding idea of ​​the municipality remains to integrate the station district into the whole of the city. The river must be the common denominator.

Fewer offices but a school

Initially estimated at 20,000 square meters, the surface area of ​​tertiary premises will be reduced by half. These, located behind the future dwellings located on the Moselle front, would therefore leave more room for green spaces. The rise of teleworking, the uncertainties about the future uses of what is commonly called “the office” have obviously weighed down.

The principle of a school group of 10 classes has been validated. A necessity in view of the 1,300 housing units expected in this sector over the next 20 years.

Silo parking: negotiations begin

The building permit for the silo car park (700 spaces) has just been purged of the period for appealing to third parties. The City has just entered into negotiations with Linkcity to buy places. Long disagreed on the value of land, Ville and SNCF have recently come to an agreement. The transaction will therefore finally be able to take place, but before starting any work, SNCF must shorten a railcar storage track. Work is expected in the second half of the year.

No accommodation at Le Couronné

This is a major change: initially targeted by various habitable constructions, the Couronné sector will not ultimately be urbanized. Conversely, the SNCF plans to install its command center there. The Couronné sector would see its landscape accentuate, with a pedestrian path joining the water’s edge. In return, the urbanization of the southern tip of the station is a scenario under study.

And now ?

The administrative assembly of the Concerted Development Zone (Zac) continues. Its creation is expected by the end of 2021. The advantage of the Zac is to understand the project as a whole and not piecemeal. Likewise, the Zac will set the framework for the public facilities expected on the right bank.
