A Bulgarian is among the seven detained for a planned assassination attempt in Belgium, local media reported, citing a statement from the federal prosecutor’s office.
Five of the suspects are Belgian and the seventh is Turkish. The detainees are accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist group, and five of them – of preparing a terrorist attack.
Earlier, the media noted that the detainees were linked to jihadists from the Islamic State group. The same group claimed responsibility for the attacks in Brussels on March 22, 2022.

The Bulgarian citizen Sergei R.born in 2003, is among seven people detained in Belgium for a plot to attack, local media reported, citing a statement from the federal prosecutor’s office.
It is noted that most of the suspects are youths. So far, it has not been clarified the target against which they were preparing to strike. Their remand orders are expected to be heard by the court on April 3.
The circulated list with the incomplete names of the detainees shows that two of the Belgians, Elias E. and Sebastian B., were born in 2003, and their compatriots Adam D., Karim H. and Vanessa B. in 2004, 2000 and 1999 respectively. specifies BTA.
Turkish citizen Hasan S. is the oldest in the group, born in 1987. The arrests were made in Brussels and Antwerp, and the Bulgarian citizen was caught in the Belgian capital.
