Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – If you have an iPhone or iPad, it is better to update the operating system immediately. Apple just announced the discovery of a new zero-day vulnerability affecting many Apple smartphones and tablets.
This patch comes in the latest update, for iPhone there is iOS 15.0.2 and iPadOS 15.0.2 for iPad.
In its announcement, Apple said this vulnerability affects devices “iPhone 6s and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad Mini 4 and later and iPod touch (7th generation).
The bug resides in the iOMobileFrameBuffer device and if it can be exploited properly then hackers can use it to execute arbitrary code with the kernel rights of the target devices, as quoted from Gizmodo, Tuesday (12/10/2021).
This will allow hackers to hijack the victim’s phone or tablet and do what they want including injecting malware or stealing user data.
Apple said the zero-day was discovered by “anonymous researchers” but didn’t provide many details about who might have done it or how it was discovered. They gave it the designation CVE-2021-30883.
