UPDATE Unair’s Red and White Vaccine, Has Been Tested on Animals Against Variants of Covid-19 Including Delta

SURYAMALANG.COM , SURABAYA – Universitas Airlangga (Unair) has leaked the latest information on the vaccine-making research process Covid-19 named Red and White Vaccine.

Currently, the research process is still in the animal testing stage.

This stage of testing vaccines on animals takes quite a long time because the research team faces obstacles.

Although the Animal Testing process is constrained, Red and White Vaccine Unair believed to still be able to pursue the target to enter the Clinical Trial stage in September.

Prof. Moh Nasih, Chancellor Unair said that currently the development of an inactivated virus vaccine method is experiencing a delay in progress due to several obstacles in the research system and scheme.

“Currently it is still in the stage of animal testing, yes it is still at that stage because it has some obstacles,” he said. Prof. Nasih, Tuesday (27/7/2021).

He explained that the obstacles faced were that the animals were difficult to find.

Of the 40 macaques available, not many are eligible to be tested, currently there are only 5 macaques that pass and deserve to be tested.

“The process of looking for macaque is a long one, you have to wait not a matter of weeks but months, yes the system still can’t be fast, if there is a shortage, do you have to wait a long time to fulfill the ingredients,” he added.

This animal test is a vaccine challenge test against the virus using macaque animals as the medium, namely macaque animals are immunized with the vaccine.
