Update: After the attack on a 44-year-old woman at the Obertshausen S-Bahn station on Saturday afternoon (28th), the police were able to catch the suspected husband on Sunday night (29th). He is now in custody.

After extensive search measures, the 58-year-old was arrested in Rodgau-Jügesheim without resistance. He is accused of having deliberately attacked his wife, initially only referring to a knife as a murder weapon. According to previous investigations, it should rather have been a meat cleaver. However, the crime has not yet been found.

The 44-year-old was seriously injured in the attack and was in critical condition in the meantime. The public prosecutor and the criminal police are now investigating an attempted homicide. The exact motive for the crime is still largely unclear. At the request of the public prosecutor’s office, the man from Nieder-Roden was brought before a judge on Sunday. After the pre-trial detention order, the accused is now in a correctional facility.

The investigators are looking for other witnesses who can call 069 8098-1234.
