Update: State Police investigate death in Deklab

Update:
On November 30, 2023, State Police members arrested Jaydion T. Carrow, age 20, of Oswego, NY for (1) count of Manslaughter 1st.  He was arraigned in the Town of Canton Court where he was released under the supervision of probation.  Carrow is scheduled to re-appear in the Town of Canton Court on January 22, 2023 at 1:30 p.m.

Update:
On November 1, 2023, an autopsy was completed by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office on Joshua A. Guzman.  The autopsy determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries to the head, and Forensic Pathologist, Doctor Katrina Monday, ruled the manner of death a homicide.

This investigation remains ongoing.

On October 29, 2023, at about 4:08 a.m., the New York State Police responded to Wells Street, Dekalb Junction, for a report of a disorderly subject.  Initial investigation revealed Joshua A. Guzman, 21, of Hermon, NY, sustained head injuries resulting from physical altercations.  Guzman was transported to Gouverneur Hospital then to SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

On October 30, 2023, Guzman succumbed to his injuries.  On November 1, 2023, an autopsy was completed by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office.  An investigation is currently ongoing by the New York State Police and St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office.
