Sparta is happy with the arrival of Lennart Thy. Football director Henk van Stee confirms to De Telegraaf that the deal is almost complete. The 28-year-old German signs a two-year contract at Het Kasteel.
“We had two priorities, a central defender and a striker. We aimed for boys with experience and we are very happy that that worked,” says Van Stee, who previously managed to pick up Belgian defender Michaël Heylen free of charge from FC Emmen.
“Thy is a real point player, a boy who scores ten goals every season, a player with a good competitive mentality and a very intelligent player,” says Van Stee. “He had several options in the Netherlands and Germany, almost the entire right row wanted him, but he has thought carefully and deliberately chose Sparta. We are very happy with that.”
A new goalkeeper is not a priority, despite the departure of Ariel Harush. Sparta still has Tim Coremans, who lost his place to the Israeli last season.
