For the time being, a first update for the HydrogenOS used in Asia has been announced. The update should appear within a week. It is not known when an update for OxygenOS used in Europe will appear. Oneplus sells its smartphones in Asia with a different operating system than in the rest of the world.

It is currently not known when the further update will appear, with which the photochromic recording filter can then be used again. The photochromic function is actually intended to take infrared pictures which, for example, can cause spectacular effects on trees and other plants in summer.

More insight with the Oneplus 8 Pro

It was announced a few days ago that Oneplus 8 Pro has an unusual function: If users activate the photo chrome recording filter in the camera app, the smartphone takes pictures in the infrared range.

This means that users can see through certain materials with a Oneplus 8 Pro, since the camera also records light waves that move outside the human-visible area. Apparently the main camera sensor of the Oneplus 8 Pro does not have a filter layer that blocks infrared rays.

Look through Apple TV and fountain pen

The infrared images are possible with thin materials such as clothing or plastic, and only if these materials are black. We have the like a user on Twitter Tried with an Apple TV: Without the activated filter, the device looks normal, but after activation, the components inside can be viewed.

We also had success with a fountain pen, which clearly shows the different display of the same materials, but which are colored differently. The black parts of the fountain pen are transparent, while the green parts are not.

The filter can also be used to look through thin, black T-shirts. With some T-shirts it works better, with some less well – there was no connection with the material. There were no body features under the T-shirt.
