The Ukrainian military in the south of the country continues to clear the front line on the left bank of the Dnieper. On April 24, the head of the joint coordinating press center of the southern defense forces, Natalya Gumenyuk, spoke about this on the air of the telethon, the video was published on the YouTube channel TSN.
Gumenyuk was asked to comment on the data of the American Institute for the Study of War that the Armed Forces of Ukraine took certain positions on the eastern (left bank) of the Dnieper in the Kherson region.
“Very often, in the pursuit of hype, the creation of artificial news can significantly harm the defense forces … You should not rush with the news,” she stressed.
Gumenyuk noted that although the Russian invaders continue to shell the right bank, over the past three days, the defense forces have “quite powerful results of combat work.”
“From 13 to 22 vehicles [россиян уничтожено]. We manage to hit and destroy artillery mounts, tanks, armored vehicles, and enemy air defense systems. Our work on clearing the front strip of the left bank is quite powerful, but we are still working in counter-battery mode,” the spokeswoman said.
She added that if you believe in the defenders of Ukraine and give them the opportunity to work in silence, “we will definitely make good news.”
Kherson and almost the entire Kherson region were captured by Russian invaders at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, in February-March 2022. In November, the defense forces of Ukraine liberated the right-bank part of the Kherson region, together with the regional center, from Russian invaders.
After that, the Russians began systematic shelling of Kherson and other liberated settlements in the region.
The left-bank part of the Kherson region remains under Russian occupation. In the occupied territories, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the occupiers put pressure on the local population and restrict their rights, as well as settle Russian military Ukrainians in housing.
