Derailed intercity after train accident not yet removed
A large part of the freight train that crashed into a construction crane in Voorschoten has now been removed from the track. On Wednesday morning there were still two wagons. It is not yet clear when and how the derailed intercity will be removed, says a spokesman for rail manager ProRail.
The freight train collided with a construction crane on Tuesday morning, which was on the track due to planned work. Subsequently, the intercity derailed because the crane or its fragments had landed on its track. Part of the train ended up in a meadow.
One person died in the accident. It concerned an employee of construction company BAM, which owns the construction crane. About thirty people were injured, nineteen of whom had to be taken to hospital.
