Analysis of cooking oil stocks that are suddenly abundant

Meanwhile, economic observer from the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF) Nailul Huda assessed that the cause of the full cooking oil shelves at the supermarket was because of the held stock.

According to him, the stock holding is carried out by wholesalers and producers.

“They deliberately did a ‘hold’ of cooking oil to make the price of oil much higher compared to HET,” Nailul told Kompas.comFriday (18/3/2022).

According to Nailul, the price of oil in some areas has touched Rp. 20,000, even when there is a HET.

“This price is the basis for wholesalers and producers to increase prices unreasonably when the HET policy is lifted,” he said again.

When asked about the possibility that the normal price of cooking oil will range from Rp. 11,000 to Rp. 14,000, according to him, it depends on global CPO prices.

If I think global CPO prices will decline to this level for sure. This is because the inflation caused is cost inflation,” he said.
