UPDATE | Mayor Aboutaleb comes with new measures, no consequences for Sunday’s game

Prime Minister Mark Rutte gave a press conference on Friday evening. The press conference was delayed due to the large increase in the number of corona patients. “The corona virus is making a comeback,” said Rutte during this press conference.

Rutte indicated that the mayors of the large cities where the virus now hits hard will come up with possible extra rules for that municipality at 8 p.m. The municipality of Rotterdam is also part of the region where there are many infections.

Update 18-09-2020 19:27

Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb has responded to the new rules in the municipality of Rotterdam. A number of new rules have been added. The rules will take effect on Sunday at 6:00 PM. Also no rules have been added explicitly for football matches. Rijnmond has published the new rules.

-There may only be a maximum of 50 people in a party. There may be 100 people in rooms, but then a permit must be applied for.

-Horeca outlets are not allowed to allow visitors in after midnight, and the lights must be off at 1 am.

Enforcement is getting tighter. For example, the Rotterdam Rijnmond Safety Region checks more often in places where many young people gather.

-Supermarkets are called upon to pay more attention to the rules.

-No new rules regarding mouth masks will be introduced for the time being. Mandatory masks will not return for the time being, although mayor Aboutaleb does not rule out that it will return in the future.
