Update 2.11 for Cyberpunk 2077: New Features and Changes in PC/PS5/Xbox Series X|S Version

CD PROJEKT RED announced on January 31st, “cyberpunk 2077” Free update 2.11 for PC/PS5/Xbox Series X|S version has started distribution. This update also includes some changes that are not listed in the patch notes. The developer who was in charge of the implementation introduces new elements that may be nice to have, although they are small.

“Cyberpunk 2077” is a first-person open-world action game created by CD PROJEKT RED and released in December 2020. The story is set in the near future, where body modification using a technology called cyberware has become commonplace. In Night City, a city filled with desire, the main character V fights for survival.

Free update 2.11 was released for the PC/PS5/Xbox Series X|S version on February 1st. In addition to fixing frequently reported problems such as problems with finishers with melee weapons, a feature has been added that allows you to change the color of Rayfield cars (see related article).

According to the game’s developer, this update implements a feature that is not in the patch notes. Leszek Krupinski, lead software engineer for the game’s online services department, introduced a small feature that seems to enhance the immersion experience. He introduced new elements that he himself created. After the update, we reported that when you use a food or drink item on the inventory screen, a sound will now play depending on the type of item.

Before the update, there was no sound when using food and drink items on the inventory screen, and the effect was only applied silently. However, in this game, it is also possible to use food and drink items on the field directly without picking them up. In such cases, food and drink sounds have been prepared for some time.

Podcaster Dominik Gąska drew attention to this small discrepancy. Dominik said that every time the game was updated, he kept checking to see if food and drink sounds were added to the inventory. Mr. Leszek noticed this and decided to address the small but neglected problem.

However, as mentioned earlier, Leszek works in the online services department, and implementing food and drink sounds in the inventory was an issue outside of his scope of responsibility. The timing also seems to have been after the implementation of update 2.0 in September last year. Initially, update 2.0 was supposed to be the last big update, and he confirmed with producers and release managers whether it was too late to implement new inventory eating and drinking sounds.

As a result, it appears that permission was granted to implement food and drink sounds, and Leszek himself took on the role of “producer” and worked toward implementation. After discussions with the sound designer and UI team, we finally decided to implement this in update 2.11. He reported that when he ate something in his inventory, he started making a munching sound, and wrote, “I can die in peace now,” describing how he felt after completing a job that was completely different from the one he was in charge of. .

As mentioned above, update 2.0 was originally scheduled to be the last major update for Cyberpunk 2077, but update 2.1, which implements various new elements, was released in December. At that time, it was once again stated that this was the last major update.

The subsequent update, 2.11, is small-scale and focuses on bug fixes, but it also includes a new element: changing the coloring of Rayfield’s cars. In addition, food and drink sounds were also prepared due to the service spirit of the developers in different departments. The attention to detail implemented in this small update will be a pleasant surprise for fans.

cyberpunk 2077‘ and the expansion pack ‘Karihajime no Jiyou’ are now available for PC/PS5/Xbox Series X|S. In addition, a download version of “Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition”, which includes the main story and “Temporary Freedom”, has been released for PC/PS5/Xbox Series X|S. The same edition will also be available as a packaged version for PS5 on February 15, 2024.
